Bridgestone Introduces Ecopia EP100 Low Rolling Resistance Tire

At the Chicago Auto Show, Bridgestone launched the Ecopia EP100, the company’s latest environmentally friendly tire. They claim it improves fuel economy and delivers a quiet ride without sacrificing wet handling performance, three characteristics many consumers are looking for.
If your car or truck needs a new set of tires, consider going green. We don’t mean colored tires; several manufacturers have tried colored tires, and it’s never caught on. We’re talking tires that are specifically designed to have low rolling resistance to enhance fuel economy.

Going Green With Re-Refined Oils

Brand names of re-refined oils include Pro-Guard ECO, EcoPower, PureGreen, America’s Choice, and Firebird. Prices for these oils fall in the same range as non-recycled oil products.
Walk the aisles of any large auto parts store and you’ll find dozens of motor oil brands that range from the majors (Mobil) to discounted, no-name house offerings. Choices within each brand include a staggering array of different base oils, formulations, and additive packages that meet an equally staggering array of performance levels (API CJ, SM, etc.).

H2Go – Hydrogen Powered Toy Fuel Cell Car

The H2go is a new remote control (RC) car powered by a fuel cell. Unlike other toy cars and trucks, the H2go requires no batteries, just water.
Diabolical tyrants know that to control children is to control the future. How do we know? We’ve studied history and watched plenty of black and white movies about World War II. Thankfully, there’s nothing remotely like the Hitler Youth movement behind this great new toy car; the H2go. The H2go, however, will influence kids as to the viability of fuel cell cars and the potential for green motoring. This is certainly not a bad thing.

Turbocharging Milestones

A turbocharger consists of two metal pinwheels supported by a common shaft and enclosed by housings.
A turbocharger consists of two metal pinwheels supported by a common shaft and enclosed by housings. One housing routes the engine’s exhaust gases to what is called the turbine wheel. The other housing contains the pinwheel called a compressor. The engine’s hot exhaust gases cause the turbine to spin at high speed – up to 100,000 rpm. Since the compressor is connected to it, it spins at the same rpm, drawing in a high volume of fresh air that’s delivered by tubular ducts to the engine’s intake valves. This excess fresh air increases the power produced by the engine. As the timeline below notes, the concept of turbocharging is nearly as old as the automobile. It’s a brilliant idea that will see extensive use in the future because it allows small, fuel-efficient engines to produce ample power.

Audi Invited to Join VW’s New Small Family

The tiny city car (previewed by the Up! concepts) is just part of Audi’s new range of fuel misers.
In 2007, Volkswagen previewed its New Small Family (NSF) of eco-cars with three concepts, a two-door hatchback, a four-door hatchback, and a microvan. Originally intended for VW, Seat, and Škoda only, NSF is being expanded to include an Audi version, the E1. In fact, the E1 will spearhead a selection of innovative, low-emissions, high-mileage models for Audi. Marketed under the E-line moniker, the new Audis share the same mission as BMW’s Project i vehicles. Audi’s lineup could include up to five different products in various size and price classes. Here is what Audi’s R&D team is currently looking at:
